Job Description

About the Role:

We are looking for an Assistant Designer to join our dynamic Tabletop design team. This role will directly support the Senior Designer to create innovative, functional, and stylish products for the Tabletop and Seasonal categories, including but not limited to, flatware, serve ware, dinnerware, barware, glassware, seasonal decor, and ornaments. This role is great opportunity to support the design and development process from start to finish with exposure to a broad range of sku-types and development processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Designer & Dec Acc Team in identifying key trends, building seasonal concepts, presenting designs to senior management, and ensuring all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met.
  • Working closely with the senior designer and dec acc team, translate trends and concepts into designs that respond to business needs for the relevant product category.
  • Develop designs from initial concept through approval.
  • Pull tears and assemble concepts.
  • Support in creation of presentation boards.
  • Develop designs through sketching and 3D modeling.
  • Prepare product renderings.
  • Present to design, merchandising and leadership teams.
  • Complete product specifications and CADs.
  • Under guidance of the Senior Designer, manage the development process through daily communication with the sourcing department, vendors and agents.
  • Comment on product samples and issue product approvals.
  • Provide administrative support through notetaking and recordkeeping, managing the updating of design decks and product development software.
  • Coordinate sample management through archive maintenance and in office sample tracking ensuring smooth set ups for presentations and approvals.

Criteria:

  • Minimum 1 year professional experience required.
  • Experience with drafting and ability to quickly review and comment on drawings.
  • Experience and personal interest in print, pattern and illustration a plus.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering a plus.
  • Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Outlook are essential.
  • This role requires being onsite in the New York office

The expected starting pay range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
