The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Under the supervision of the assigned PI, with accountability to the Departmental Administrator, the candidate is active in investigating analytic needs of the assigned PI. Identifying, developing, and maintaining analytic solutions, including data extracts, reports, and dashboards, from various clinical, ancillary, legacy, and administrative data sources. This individual must be proficient in SQL coding, the use of institutional data models, business intelligence tools, and best practices for architected data solutions.


This position works directly with academic, and clinical staff, including on occasion with senior departmental leadership in Anesthesiology, to review analytic requests, provide status updates, set expectations, plan and implement products / services to meet the needs of the PI. Generally speaking, this individual must also demonstrate the ability to explain technical solutions to others, while possessing strong customer service/communication skills, problem solving ability, acumen in medical terminology, critical thinking skills, and be team orientated.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the assigned PI and other end-users to understand and refine research/preparatory to research, quality improvement, regulatory and other analytic needs, provide guidance on optimal solutions, and translate the operational definitions into accurate, application-based specifications (40%)
  • Develops, distributes, and provides support for analytic content, including underlying data architecture, in a timely manner, using institutional business intelligence tools, such as Power BI, Cognos, Epic's proprietary suite of tools (e.g., Slicer/Dicer), and other applications, prioritizing multiple requests, and maintaining a support relationship with users. (20%)
  • Researches established reporting content and tools, workflows, and various data models in depth; engaging in knowledge transfer exercises with IT application teams and operational experts as needed. (20%)
  • Aids in MPOG data reporting and contributes to the institutional data dictionary and data warehouse as appropriate, identifying patterns and building on previous efforts where possible. (10%)
  • Maintains knowledge of policies, standards, and best practices, internal and industry-wide, including HIPAA, IRB, and data governance policies and procedures, to ensure all deliverables meet those standards. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or similar discipline, or equivalent education and 4 years of related experience
  • Proficiency in MS SQL, including relational database design and higher-level language.
  • At least one EPIC certification(s) in a related application data model at outset or within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • One year of report development experience utilizing Epic's database data structures.
  • Experience with clinical data terminology and workflows.
  • Experience with Power BI, Cognos and/or other popular BI tools and AWS' infrastructure and data management tools.
  • Experience in clinical or research analytic and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with scripting languages for data analysis, such as R or Python
