Starkey Hearing is looking to add an NPI Sourcing Manager to provide cross-commodity sourcing/supply management leadership for New Product Introduction teams and/or technology and research projects at our global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. You will serve as project manager to ensure integration and execution of best-in-class supplier engagement processes to deliver on time-to-market, cost, quality and innovation goals while mitigating risk. You would coordinate the transfer of project information and responsibilities to commodity team and supply-chain planning personnel such that they are effective in meeting project goals. Job Responsibilities/Results
- Provide Sourcing/Supply Chain Management leadership for launch of new products and technologies
- Maintain a tracking sheet (early bill of material) in order to manage a "Plan for Every Part" (PFEP) to ensure key milestones, stage-gate deliverables, and component-by-component goals/targets are reliably established and met
- Ensure regular and consistent project communications with Sourcing and Supply Chain personnel so they are informed and able to effectively support the needs of the project.
- Work with the NPI community to establish technology roadmaps which identify future needs, and drive technology scouting and supplier technology sharing forums to proactively meet those future needs
- Ensure process excellence and continuous improvement through the development of standard work and documented processes for how we select, engage, and manage suppliers through the NPI lifecycle
- Serve as sourcing project manager for research, technology, and new product programs to ensure timely and effective supplier selection, early supplier engagement to influence design concepts and specifications for purchased components in order to optimize quality, innovation, cost, manufacturability, and supply chain - all consistent with sourcing category strategies
- Coordinate the timely acquisition of tooling, as well as prototype and pre-production components
- Develop strong partnering relationships with the Engineering, Technology, and R&D community, as well as with the commodity teams, manufacturing facilities, and management
- Lead make versus buy assessments to ensure timely and effective decisions early in the new product lifecycle, and consistent with manufacturing and sourcing strategies
- Track actuals versus goals for NPD time-to-market, component and sub-systems cost, quality performance, risk management, lead times, and supplier capabilities
- Document standard work & processes showing continuous improvement
- Exhibit excellent collaboration, communication, technical understanding, and project management skills/outcomes
Knowledge/Technical Requirements
- Strong understanding of new product introduction processes
- Strong understanding of supplier engagement/management best practices
- Working understanding of electrical, mechanical, and contract manufacturing industry processes, capabilities, and supply base
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Preferred) business, supply chain management, or other technically related fields
- Master's degree in business, supply chain management, technology management or engineering desired
- Experience:
- 5+ years of design, manufacturing, sourcing, planning, supply chain and/or operations experience
- 5+ years engaging with new product development preferred
- 5+ years direct engagement with suppliers and technical personnel preferred
- 5+ years program/project management experience desired
