We are looking for a Director, Internal Audit & SOX to help centralize our existing internal audit and SOX program into an overarching strategy, optimize our audit processes, and drive operational change based on audit results. This role in establishing, maintaining, and advocating for our audit program that will allow us to meet our obligations as a public company as well as anticipate and understand risks associated with key financial, operational, and technology processes.

What you'll do...

  • Develop and evolve our audit strategy, including centrally coordinating the SOX program, overseeing provider/pharmacy claim audits, and supporting client audits.
  • Coordinate auditing and control procedures with various departments as well as third parties for planning, scoping, walkthroughs, testing, and remediation efforts. Build and cultivate positive collaborative relationships with these groups to optimize audit processes and facilitate trust.
  • Maintaining process and data flows for key processes / IT systems and proactively providing risk/controls consulting in situations where new systems/processes are being implemented and involve significant risks.
  • Oversee and document assessments of audit findings, potential exposures, trends, and recommended actions at both micro and macro levels. Rely on knowledge of key business and audit partners to improve the value of such assessments.
  • Coordinate closely with SOX consultants and external auditors in aligning on SOX/audit plans and discussing internal audit results, findings, and remediation efforts. Understand and manage consultant/external auditor expectations to help improve the audit experience for all involved parties.
  • Assist in the execution and enhancement of our enterprise risk management program, including identification, evaluation, and tracking of risks and related mitigation strategies.
  • Regularly prepare and present material on the SOX audit and risk programs, tailoring content, and communication to the intended audience.

About you...

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline together with a CPA or similar audit certification.
  • At least 8 -12 years of public company experience within internal audit, SOX compliance, accounting, and related fields with both operational and corporate finance functions, including experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm.
  • Experience in healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Strong track record of significant accomplishments in building, evolving, and improving audit programs and risk management.
  • Experience managing audit work of internal team members and external parties.
  • Excellent business acumen, communications, influencing and analytical skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of using these effectively to deliver significant results.
  • Sufficient experience and knowledge of information technology and applying this expertise to ensure that technology aspects of SOX/risk management are properly addressed.

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $165,000 - $175,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
