About the role

The Medical & Scientific Affairs Lead - OTC provides expert medical and scientific support to multiple departments and interdepartmental teams including R&D cross functions, Innovation, Marketing /commercial, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Category, BU's etc. The lead also takes full responsibility of the medical and scientific stewardship of our selected OTC flagship brands, the main responsibilities will include leading medical contribution to scientific innovation as a key strategic partner, building strong relationships with both internal and external key stake holders to drive Haleon's trusted science agenda forward. Develop capabilities to enable delivery of quality medical /scientific strategic stewardship and drive simplification.

Medical & Scientific Affairs is responsible for deeply understanding the customer and the environment from a medical perspective so that they can ensure the clinical and economic data being developed will provide the greatest opportunity for the appropriate patients and to provide commercial with a deeper understanding of the medical relevance of the data generated.

Medical & Scientific Affairs is responsible for leading evidence generation (including early exploratory pilots phase 3/ 4 clinical trials, external and scientific engagement and internal medical advice on our medicines and the marketplace from a medical perspective.

As an office based Medical & Scientific Affairs Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Medical Affairs (MA) physicians and scientists develop deep medical expertise on Haleon products, and all related relevant topics including but not limited to the health conditions / diseases for which they treat or prevent, the competitive landscape, the payer/provider environment, and emerging data.

Role responsibilities

  • Lead integrated evidence generation across RWE, Phase IIIb/IV and other data including invitro & exploratory pilot studies, supported by micro-analysis to tailor information to needs of various patient populations in scope.

  • Clearly articulate clinical and economic value (including data) to build trust with partners and accelerate access to treatment to ensure that the right patient gets the right treatment at the right time.

  • Upgrade physician and patient/consumer decision making by engaging providers, patients, and others with tailored information that improves outcomes, supported by a reimagined insight-generation process.

  • Provide strategic medical direction to the organization steering resources for maximum medical impact, identifying, and using new capabilities, and upgrading performance at scale.


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

  • 15+ years of experience in Medical or Scientific Affairs within Consumer Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Industries.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and business acumen skills.

  • Travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, PharmD, MD in a science related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in Medical or Scientific Affairs experience within Consumer Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Industries.

  • Previous therapeutic experience within Allergies, Respiratory, Oral Care, or Pain.

  • Ability to prioritize business needs and flexibility to address them when business appropriate.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
