Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst.

The Data Analyst will be a member of the core Decision Support team in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and will work in conjunction with clinical and administrative leadership. We are seeking a qualified Data Analyst to provide support for business/data/financial management and analyses across the Clinical, Research and Education missions.


The Data Analyst will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing statistical analyses. A successful applicant will be able to work autonomously and comfortably in an academic medical center environment.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Gather and analyze data for potential business expansion
    • Identify specific business opportunities and ways to capitalizeon them
    • Influence stakeholders to support business projects
    • Assist with project management for selected projects
    • Coordinate with different departmental teams to improve productivity
    • Test business processes and recommend improvements
    • Write clear and well-structured business requirements and documentation
    • Identify automation opportunities
    • Create reports, dashboards and visualizations to help others understand business performance
    • Analyze process issues and bottlenecks to make improvements
    • Communicate and validate requirements with relevant stakeholders
    • Develop and maintain reporting tools and record-keeping procedures.
    • Perform data discovery, analysis and modeling
    • Bridge the gap between financial insights and operational needs, facilitating more informed and strategic decision-making
    • Prepare reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders
    • Identify trends and patterns in data to help inform business decisions
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven solutions
    • Gathers business data and organizational policies to prepare operational analyses and reports; audits current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of operations
    • Research and evaluate data from different sources to identify discrepancies and patterns.
    • Present and explain status reports to management. Recommend ways to improve healthcare quality and minimize costs.
    • Review and analyze P&Ls in collaboration with the management team. Identify changes in charges, revenues and costs.
    • Help design and develop standard and ad hoc department reports (i.e. Anticipate number of deliveries in a given month or period)
    • Maintains department data crosswalks
    • Compiles and analyzes clinical operating forecasting models
    • Design and conduct analyses pertaining to data acquired thorough various data sources; Combine disparate data sources into an integrated database or dataset.
    • Compile and review analyses, reporting, key performance indicators, and operational metrics.
    • Participate in corrective actions in response to variances and trends.
    • Create descriptive data summaries including visualizations and written descriptions of data findings for a wide range of audiences.
    • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Information Systems, Mathematics, or relevant field. A minimum of 1 year of healthcare-related work experience.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Good time management abilities.
Strong knowledge of data management systems and analysis tools.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
Possess strong customer service and problem solving skill sets.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel (including advanced functions, such as complex formulas, pivot tables, graphing), PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with EPIC preferred.
3 years of healthcare-related work experience.
Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP). and/or MBA.
Previous experience with healthcare analytics and reporting tools.
Ability to work within fast-paced environment with adherence to critical work deadlines
Knowledgeable of accrual basis of accounting.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $112,951.35 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
