The Strategic Sourcing Director plays a pivotal role within the Supply Chain department, acting as a key liaison among various stakeholders, including clinical and non-clinical teams, administration, department stakeholders, and vendors. This position is responsible for driving organizational and departmental goals related to cost savings, process improvement, standardization, and utilization reduction through strategic sourcing initiatives focusing on indirect spend categories or purchased services specific to revenue cycle activities.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

    • This position is responsible for directing all activities related to Strategic Sourcing functions for revenue cycle management, including developing an annual category management strategy in consultation with Supply Chain Services leadership, and other key executive management.
    • Category Management: Oversee multiple indirect and/or possible direct spend categories to develop sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
    • Sourcing Process Leadership: Lead all aspects of the strategic sourcing process, including market and financial analyses, development of sourcing strategies, RFIs/RFPs, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Cultivate collaborative relationships with Surgery Partners leadership, clinicians, department stakeholders, and vendors to integrate cost-saving programs and ensure effective outcomes.
    • Contract Management: Proactively manage upcoming contract expirations, executing the RFP process in assigned categories to capitalize on savings opportunities and optimize contract terms.
    • Cost-Saving Initiatives: Identify and present cost-saving ideas, such as vendor replacements, standardization, vendor consolidation, and technological advancements, supported by thorough cost-benefit analyses and industry benchmarking.
    • Negotiation and Contracting: Utilize strong negotiation skills to engage with vendors and internal stakeholders, developing negotiation strategies and closing contracts with optimal terms in compliance with internal standards and legal prerequisites.
    • Contract Administration: Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with industry trends and market standards, while providing ongoing support for non-strategic product or service requests.
    • Key Performance Indicators: This position implements Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in consultation with Supply Chain Services leadership and revenue cycle management specific to vendor management. Leads the development and implementation of a service line-based sourcing team that results in achieving annual savings goals and establishment of financial & utilization scorecards

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Expert knowledge in supply chain operations and/or revenue cycle management within the medical-surgical purchasing industry.
    • Knowledge of project management and process improvement methodologies.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies, procedures, and business processes.
    • Knowledge of advanced negotiation tactics.
    • Strong team and people leadership skills.
    • Skilled in upward communication as well as across and downward communication to inform and influence others no matter where they fit in the organizational chart.
    • Ability to understand and create, model, test and execute complex contracting scenarios.
    • Ability to understand, synthesize and make quantitative/qualitative assessments of medical/surgical market, purchased services0, and clinical data.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and make presentations of varying complexity levels to audiences of various organizational roles and levels of responsibility.
    • Ability to work effectively with experts from many healthcare specialties as a team member, coordinator and/or facilitator.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism in potentially difficult situations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other software/systems which may be required.
    • Demonstrate level of organization ability and attention to detail.
    • Ability to translate objectives into project planning priorities, create and manage work plans and timelines for multiple projects and priorities.

      Qualifications:

      • Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree preferred (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business, Finance, Revenue Cycle)
      • 7+ years of relevant work experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations and supply chain operations. Candidate must have proven track-record of achieving results and managing equivalent or similar responsibilities

      • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
