Summary of Position: Performs a wide range of routine maintenance, mechanical, electrical & plumbing maintenance activities on the Western Technical College facilities. Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Perform office function's which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
5. Conduct general maintenance and repairs on equipment - Supporting Actions Include:

  • Perform general maintenance tasks that include but are not limited to; general plumbing, general electrical, general carpentry & HVAC diagnosis and repairs.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
  • Assist management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommend approaches
  • Perform on-call emergency duties as required
  • Read and understand schematics, blueprints and drawings
  • Perform corrective measures to work orders that are assigned
6. Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping - Supporting Actions Include:
  • Record well water usage readings and submit computer-based reports to WDNR, yearly
  • Document as needed in Microsoft Windows and building automation system
  • Maintain computer-based records on maintenance performed, material procured, and inventories held as part of the work order process
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues using Building Automation System
  • Inspect mechanical equipment and maintain manuals and equipment logs
  • Work with Building Automation System contractor to effectively diagnose program functions
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in related field (Air conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration or Electromechanical Journeyman) OR
  • Education in related field combined with appropriate occupational experience totaling 2 yrs OR
  • Occupational experience in related field totaling 2 yrs.
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of HVAC/facilities maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Type II Refrigeration license preferred
Required Testing:
  • Physical (ability to pick up and carry 40 lbs, standing for prolonged periods of time)
  • Hearing baseline test and annual audiogram testing
Special Instructions/About Western

This position reports to: Facilities Project Manager

Starting hourly salary range based on education and experience: $23.61 - $29.53
