Summary

Provide leadership and oversight of Disability Income claims operations, ensuring claims are being administered in compliance with applicable state laws and regulations. Manages teams that both administer claims and support claims through recruitment, selection, training, development, motivation, and salary administration of staff.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the oversight of DI claims operations, ensuring claims are being administered in compliance with applicable state laws and regulations.
• Responsible for establishing priorities across multiple divisions and allocating resources to align with business needs and achieve performance results.
• Responsible for ensuring that claim handling is performed within the standards/best practices and administration of claims in accordance with the company's claim philosophy.
• Responsible for collaborating with other leaders within the department to create the future of claims administration.
• This includes, identifying and facilitating claim handling process improvements, technological/digital advancements in claim handling and related divisional projects.
• Remains alert to and develops innovative solutions to address needs of the claims divisions to maximize performance and business results.
• Takes the lead in prioritizing resources and projects as required that is in the best interest of the claims divisions and its responsibility to the claimants and policy holders at large.
• Responsible for identifying and directing claims handling process improvements and divisional projects through solution implementation.
• Actively participates in departmental/functional projects to drive business results and innovation.

Qualifications

• College degree in business or related field.
• Eight to ten years of experience leading teams.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Experience in negotiation and conflict management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead others formally and influence without authority.
• Ability to practice collective leadership by serving as an effective leader within a leadership team in addition to leading own team.
• Experience in leading projects.
• Knowledge of managing claim legal issues and the litigation process.
• Experience in leading Servicing or Claims operations preferred.
